After all, it is the heart that is important. It is about honouring timeless traditions and heritage and transforming them to something totally and fascinatingly new. Led by Scotland’s National Chef, Gary Maclean, KIN is a modern Scottish restaurant, built on flavour, simplicity and a profound respect for ingredients. Scotland is at the heart of the concept. The experience, relaxed, warm and refined, designed to be a place you yearn to keep coming back to everyday, not just on special occasions. It’s a feeling. You’re home. You’re family, you’re Kin.
The Menu at KIN
A profound reflection of Gary Maclean's journey, drawn from his books, his travels and his memories, KIN brings together Scottish heritage and modern gastronomy with quiet confidence. The menu is led by Scotland's natural larder, from its coastline to the countryside, and changes with the seasons. Ingredients are carefully sourced, thoughtfully prepared.
What stands out is cooking that is confident but not complicated, refined but never forced. From the legendary smoked trout of the Tobermory Fish Co & Smokehouse to freshly caught lobsters from Kate & Co, it is always the bounty of the season that takes centre stage, paired with exceptional spirits from Scotland's celebrated distilleries.
Cuisine steeped in tradition, yet not bound by it.
Provenance on your plate
KIN is built around the meals and moments that stay with you, honest cooking, carefully sourced produce and the warm, unpretentious hospitality of a kitchen that knows where everything comes from. The menu changes with the landscape and the larder, focusing on standout plates where flavour leads and the ingredient is always at the heart of it. From the legendary smoked trout, fresh vegetables, to freshly caught lobsters, everything on the plate is chosen for its origin, its character and the story it carries. Provenance isn't a philosophy at KIN. It's the starting point.
Design — Where Scotland Comes Home
The interiors at KIN, created in collaboration with Hannah Lohan and New Heritage Design, are a soulful reflection of the land and sea — a refined blend of Victorian heritage and relaxed, unhurried hospitality. Scotland's quiet charm is woven with elegance into every corner: warm materials, woven cottons and tactile velvets that balance rustic simplicity with humble luxury.
Intricate wall mouldings, Persian rugs and considered ambient lighting give the room a feeling that is more homecoming than restaurant. Every detail has been chosen with intention, echoing Gary's own philosophy in the kitchen, his deep respect for traditions steeped in history, reimagined into something entirely new.
Stewart Ferguson's evocative landscape imagery and references to Gary's own books add layers of story and meaning to every corner of the room.
Breakfast

Freshly squeezed juices and artisan coffee complete the picture. A gentle, considered start to the day.
